Access Examination Officer - APS Level 5 (Ongoing)

The National Archives of Australia collects records of Australian government decisions and actions as evidence. We do this to connect Australians with the nation's memory, their identity and history. The Declassification Section is responsible for access to the national archival collection by reviewing records for any continuing sensitivities prior to release. Our examination work supports other business areas within the National Archives by releasing records for research, exhibitions, promotion and other visitor engagement activities.

As an Access Examiner you will undertake the examination of less complex archival records under the Archives Act 1983, to assess their suitability for public release. You will also support the development, implementation and review of policy and procedures relating to the examination and release of Australian Government records.

A merit pool of suitable candidates will be active for 12 months from the date of advertisement.

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 2.
