The ICT Infrastructures Section is responsible for providing advice to National Archives management on the efficient and effective use of technology, and enabling National Archives staff through the provision and support of end-user devices. The section also supports infrastructure relocation projects and is responsible for providing data storage infrastructure and managing its availability and capacity to meet business demands.

As Assistant Director, Data Storage, you will lead a specialised function, provide expert advice, and help shape reliable, secure, and future-focused infrastructure services in a complex and evolving environment. This is a great opportunity for an experienced ICT professional who enjoys leading technical outcomes, working across teams, and contributing to work of national significance.

Please be aware that, as part of the duties of the role, you may be required to work outside business hours and provide on-call support as part of a roster.

Qualifications or experience in the following areas would be desirable:

  • Hitachi Content Platform (HCP, G-Nodes, S-Nodes) – highly desirable
  • Hitachi Network Attached Storage (HNAS) – highly desirable
  • HPE Alletra Storage Systems and related management systems – highly desirable
  • Operation, maintenance, and administration of the Scality Storage Platform – desirable
  • Hitachi Remote Ops (Hi-Track) – desirable
  • Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform (VSP) – highly desirable
  • NetApp Storage Systems and operating systems (ONTAP) – desirable
  • Server operating systems from the data storage perspective (Windows, ESX, Linux) – desirable
  • Operational knowledge of storage protocols (CIFS, NFS, and S3) – highly desirable
  • Configuration and maintenance of data storage and backup systems – highly desirable
  • Knowledge and experience of ITIL – desirable
  • Vendor certifications that complement experience – desirable
  • Leadership and management experience in leading a small team of technical staff – desirable
  • At least three years of demonstrated experience in ICT infrastructure – highly desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology – desirable

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
