National Archives of Australia is seeking an enthusiastic APS Level 6 Manager to be part of a team engaged in the effective and efficient delivery of Reference, Description, Access Examination and Public Programs in the NSW office.

The NSW Public Engagement team assist the Australian community to access the collection by:

• Responding to reference enquiries.
• Undertaking access examination of items in the collection, including complex examinations.
• Representing National Archives in NSW at public engagement events.
• Expanding knowledge of the NSW collection through description and metadata enhancement.

In this role you will work under limited supervision and coordinate the work of a small team in accordance with established guidelines and procedures, using a variety of digital information management systems, as well as the physical handling of records, to deliver access to the national archival collection.

Qualification: Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience working with a collection in the galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAM) sector are highly desirable.

Requirement: You must also be able to meet the inherent physical requirements of this role which includes repetitive, sedentary, screen-based work and/or the ability to pack, sort, lift and relocate records in accordance with established work health and safety practices and archival principles.

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian Citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) level.
