About the role

The Transformation Office has been established to lead work on business improvements and new business initiatives. The Transformation Office is responsible for whole of agency projects and initiatives that form part of National Archives transformation agenda, including oversight of the existing Defend the Past, Protect the Future program, the Digital First program and Digital Archives Innovation and Research.

Program Management oversees National Archives' program delivery and ensures consistent program management practices. We also enhance efficiencies across the Transformation branch.

We do this by:

  • program management of the Digital First program including:
    • developing and maintaining program documentation
    • program planning, reporting and governance and managing risks and issues
    • communicating program progress and managing stakeholder engagement
    • supporting the Transformation Office resources management with a focus on contract management and streamlined processes.

As an APS6 Program/Project Support Officer, you would play a critical role in contributing to the success of program through effective coordination, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and performance monitoring. The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, analytical capabilities, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Under broad direction, the main duties of the role are to:

  • Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation on program performance, highlighting key achievements, risks, and challenges, based on understanding of the program’s objectives and goals.
  • Developing program plans and artefacts.
  • Contribute to day-to-day operation of the program, including stakeholder engagement.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and best practices in program management and governance.
  • Promote and apply the APS and National Archives values and contemporary people management principles and practices in equity and diversity, WHS and participative management practices.
  • Promote and apply the National Archives’ Vision, Mission and Commitments as expressed in Strategy 2025–2030: Evolving National Archives and Our Values.

Relevant qualifications or experience with portfolio, program or project management would be highly rated.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the role you must be an Australian citizen. If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline clearance level.
