About the role

The Office of the Deputy Director-General/ Corporate Services branch oversees the efficient, effective and ethical management of the National Archives’ resources. This is done in accordance with the Commonwealth’s financial, procurement, employment, security and property legislative and policy frameworks. The Branch supports the workforce, facilities and culture it requires to deliver its strategic priorities and remain sustainable.

Property and Security is responsible for delivering fit-for-purpose accommodation, in a cost-effective and timely manner, and providing, fostering and developing a positive security culture to ensure National Archives staff are aware of and able to meet their protective security obligations and legislative and Australian Government's Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) security requirements.

Under general direction the main duties of the role are to:

  • Perform duties associated with administering the National Archives’ protective security arrangements including, but not limited to, data entry and compliance reporting.
  • Provide frequent administrative support and customer service for the National Archives’ Security Advisory Unit, including personnel security assessments, employment screening, utilising the AGSVA MyClearance system and physical security systems.
  • Adhere to guidance from the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Australian Privacy Principles (APP), Australian Signals Directorate Information Security Manual (ISM) and internal National Archives policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the implementation of key Property and Security organisational initiatives and projects including physical, information, and personnel security and their governance arrangements.
  • Liaise and negotiate with internal staff and clients to ensure effective delivery of information and high-quality protective security advice.
  • Promote and apply the APS and National Archives values and contemporary people management principles and practices in equity and diversity, WHS and participative management practices.
  • Promote and apply the National Archives’ Vision, Mission and Commitments as expressed in Strategy 2025–2030: Evolving National Archives and Our Values. .

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian Citizens. If you are selected, you will be required to successfully undergo a pre-employment check and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at a Baseline level up to Top Secret Positive Vetting clearance level depending on the role.
