The Infrastructure & Technology Operations section is responsible for providing advice to National Archives’ management on the efficient and effective use of technology and to enable National Archives staff through the provision and support of end user devices. The section also supports infrastructure relocation projects and is responsible for providing data storage infrastructure and managing its availability and capacity to meet business demands.

Under limited direction the main duties of the role are to:

  • Provide expert technical advice, support, information and assistance to management in relation to the following technologies:
    • Domain Services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy incl. App Locker)
    • Certificate Authority and Certificate Management
    • MS Exchange Online
    • Windows Server 2019 and 2022
    • VMware vSphere
    • Storage and Backup - Network Attached Storage and Object Storage (HNAS, HCP, ONTAP)
    • Backup Software and Hardware (Commvault, Tape Libraries)
    • Enterprise Vault
    • PowerShell Scripting
    • M365 Administration
    • AppLocker and WDAC
    • SharePoint and OneDrive administration
  • Manage and maintain National Archives’ Servers, Data Storage and Backup platforms.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve incidents relating to infrastructure systems.
  • Ensure system backups are performed and restoration processes are tested regularly.
  • Work in collaboration with other technical teams to develop, maintain and support National Archives’ ICT Infrastructure.
  • Maintain an awareness of the overall health and performance of ICT infrastructure through regular monitoring.
  • Prepare and review, documentation, standard operating procedures and practices for the functions performed within the team, and implement work plans for achieving the team’s objectives.
  • Develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to achieve work area and agency goals.

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1) security clearance, with the ability to obtain NV2 or TSPV if required.
