The Corporate Governance and Risk (CGR) section leads activity that enables efficient, effective and ethical corporate governance, sound corporate and strategic business planning, reporting and policy development, and innovative and prudent management designed to deliver good business outcomes, performance improvement, accountability, compliance and reporting for the long-term success of the National Archives of Australia (as a non-corporate Commonwealth entity).

The CGR section leads and coordinates the National Archives’ engagement with integrated risk management, its audit program, responses to and provision of legal services, including for Freedom of Information (FOI), privacy and legislation matters, requests for legal advice, litigation expenditure, and broader coordination of and support to a range of National Archives governance committees.

The role of Assistant Director, Integrity within the Corporate Governance and Risk section provides high level support to the section Director and the Assistant Director-General, Corporate Services in the development and implementation of the National Archives’ integrity and legal compliance frameworks. This includes assisting with the development of strategic and corporate plans, managing legal, accountability and reporting obligations and having oversight of the arrangements for procuring external legal services.

Legal qualifications and / or experience as an FOI / privacy contact officer or FOI decision-maker are highly desirable.

 

Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting Level 1.
